The IEEE Region 10, also sometimes referred as the Asia Pacific Region, comprises of 56 Sections, 5 Councils, 8 Sub-sections, 334 Chapters and 490 student branches. It covers a geographical area stretching from South Korea and Japan in the north-east to New Zealand in the south, and Pakistan in the west. With a membership of over 67,000, it is one of the largest regions in IEEE, and the TENCON is the premier international technical conference of this important region. Held annually since 1980, TENCON provides an important forum for researchers and engineers from the industries, and professors and graduate students from the academia to network and to discuss new ideas and developments in emerging areas of electrical and electronic engineering, computer science and related topics.
TENCON 2009 will be held in Singapore during November 23-26, 2009. The theme of this TENCON, "Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Development" is most appropriate, as the current global economic downturn is a timely reminder of worse scenario to come if the global development is not sustainable. It is time for us to meet and consider multi-disciplinary technologies and affordable solutions to improving societies without damaging the environment. The conference will feature plenary / invited talks by eminent scientists and engineers, tutorials, paper presentations, poster sessions and industrial exhibits.
